About this Session

About this Workshop

Generative AI tools promise unprecedented speed, but speed without strategy simply leads to faster mistakes. In this session, we go behind the scenes of hands-on Design Vision initiatives at Lounge by Zalando to explore what intentional AI collaboration actually looks like across the end-to-end design lifecycle. We will trace the journey through discovery synthesis, opportunity mapping, ideation, and rapid prototyping, breaking down the exact inflection points where machine intelligence speeds up execution – and where human critical judgment, taste, and empathy must steer the ship.

The conversation around AI in product design has lingered on novelty prompts and surface-level party tricks for too long. Design practitioners and product leaders now face the real challenge: integrating AI into complex systems while maintaining craft, strategic coherence, and user advocacy.

By the end of this session, you will walk away with:

  • The 3Cs framework: a clear, practical mental model to assess when to trust AI, when to push back, and how to frame problems before writing a single prompt.
  • Deconstructed discovery workflows: actionable methods for using AI to synthesize messy research, cluster patterns, and surface non-obvious opportunity spaces without losing context.
  • The division of labor: a realistic map of where AI handles the heavy cognitive lifting versus the non-negotiable human inputs – empathy, ethical nuance, business alignment, and intuitive craft.
  • From novelty to delivery: tangible tactics to move your team past decorative AI experiments into high-impact product execution.
